Demon slayers Tanjiro and Tengen Uzui face off with two Upper Rank Six members in new art for the anime series' second season.

SPOILERS FOR DEMON SLAYER FOLLOW:

The colorful new poster sees the two warriors charging at their latest opponents, the sadistic demon Daki and her protective brother, Gyutaro. Both of the new villains are members of the Twelve Demon Moons, a group of powerful demons that serve directly under Muzan Kibutsuji, the original demon. Tengen is shown wielding his unique dual Nichirin cleavers while Tanjiro makes further use of his mysterious Sun Breathing style. In addition to the new poster, a short teaser trailer was released that announces that veteran anime voice actor Ryota Osaka will be joining the series' cast in the role of Gyutaro. Osaka previously starred in The Devil is a Part-Timer and Assassination Classroom.

The new art was released just a day before the broadcast of a new Demon Slayer TV special, which is promising to drop two "huge" announcements concerning the future of the anime series. The new special will be broadcast on Japnese streaming service Abema at Jan. 18 at 8:00 P.M. JST. In addition to the new announcements, the special will feature a retrospective that looks back on the events of the show's second season so far, and will feature appearances from Tanjiro's voice actor, Natsuki Hanae, as well as the series' producer, Yuma Takahashi.

The second season of the anime debuted last October. The first seven episodes of the season were dedicated to a recut of the 2020 Mugen Train movie. While the televised version of the arc mostly consisted of reused footage from the film, the televised version of the arc featured 70 newly animated shots and a brand new intro episode, which showed how the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku made his way to eponymous train. The rest of the season so far has been dedicated to the Entertainment District arc, which takes place several months later and sees Tanjiro and friends teaming up a different Hashira, the flamboyant Tengen Uzui, in order to stop a powerful demon operating within the city's red light district.
