Demon Slayer: Kimtesu No Taiba just finished its first anime season, and it was a huge success. Demon Slayer has become such a phenomenon, the makers decided to milk the cow well, therefore it has a movie (Mugen Train) coming out in 2020. It is one of those animes that was released initially for a smaller audience, however towards the end of its run, Demon Slayer had all the hype in the world.

Demon Slayer- the manga, has done great business in Japan, partly attributable to the anime of the same name. The manga sold like hotcakes after the anime went on air. Therefore to say 2019 was Demon Slayer's year would be an understatement, best exemplified by the international response that the first season of the anime received. It looks like Demon Slayer aka Kimetsu no Yaiba is snowballing into a phenomenon.

10 READ THE MANGA: GREAT STORY

Panels from the popular Demon Slayer manga

Demon Slayer has really slain bookstores in Japan, given the sold-out status it achieved within a short period of time. Just recently, Crunchyroll reported that Japanese bookstores have run out of their Demon Slayer stocks. The latest volume of the manga series came out on October 4 and boy oh boy, what a terrific business the bookstores did with it.

Demon Slayer prides itself on being a melancholic tale about humans and demons. In the Taisho period in Japan, Tanjiro, a benevolent boy and a charcoal seller by profession, loses his parents to a Demon. Next, you know, his sister Nezuko is turned into a Demon. This family ordeal, the hunger for vengeance and for saving his sister, thus pushes Tanjiro's resolve to become a Demon Slayer himself. Interesting, right? So, why wouldn't the readers check for second-hand copies of Volume 7 online?

9 WAIT FOR THE ANIME: FAITHFUL ADAPTATION

Demon Slayer anime is the mirror adaptation of Demon Slayer manga. The character development of Tanjiro from a charcoal seller to an Oni Slayer, what drives him, the sorrowful tale of Nezuko and Tanjiro, are all well adapted in the anime. The anime has negligent fillers and Tanjiro's struggles are well depicted.

The Shounen storytelling has captivated the hearts and minds of audiences from across the globe. So, it's only natural that one waits it out and doesn't read the manga. A second season is a sure shot, although official confirmation is awaited.

8 READ THE MANGA: STORY CLOSE TO END

Demon Slayer manga is almost about to wrap up its story. It is an ongoing manga and its Volume 9 is coming out on November 5 in Japan in the Shonen Jump app. As for the English chapter, they are out on the same day, to the courtesy of Viz Media.

With the story about to come to an end, reading the manga seems like a prudent decision.

7 WAIT FOR THE ANIME: GREAT ANIMATION

Just as the story wasn't great, the beautifully created anime, produced by Yuma Takahashi is a spectacle to watch.  For Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, getting an anime adaptation this year wasn't a cakewalk. The creator has put this best effort with the visuals but Yuma attributes it to casts' performance too.

Safe to say, everyone has lived up to the expectations with Demon Slayer anime, including the original creator Koyoharu Gotoge who was on board with respect to the script and character design.

6 READ THE MANGA: CHAPTER COMES OUT EVERY WEEK

Kimestsu no Yaiba is published weekly. The 17th volume came out in Japan on October 4, 2019. Mercari and Yahoo are hosting auctions for Demon Slayer manga, albeit for a high price. The next volume though should be out by early 2020.

5 WAIR FOR THE ANIME: VOICE ACTING

Takahashi, the anime creator has attributed its success to the amazing performance of the cast. He acknowledges whilst each week is tough, the cast looks forward to delivering their best work to the fans.

Akari Kitō for Nezuko, Tanjiro Kamada for Natsuki Hanae, has done justice with the story arcs of the anime characters. As such Season 2, is more anticipatory.

4 READ THE MANGA: INCREDIBLE ART

The artwork on Demon Slayer is a class in itself. The gorgeous artwork of Kimestsu no Yaiba is a spectacle and a reason enough to go for a reading of the manga.

Due credit goes to Koyoharu Gotuge to create some of the best artwork known to date. And when the artwork is incredible so, it makes more sense to read the original, the book is always better.

3 WAIT FOR THE ANIME: BETTER PACING

Now people who have read the manga and watched Season 1 both, feel that the anime adaptation is better paced than the manga, specifically with Tanjiro's two years of struggle to become a Demon Slayer. The episode 4 montage is particularly loved by fans for a paced and on-point representation.

Readers have criticized the manga for unnecessarily dragging with Tanjiro's story, however, the anime showed his story swiftly. Season 1 progressed at a pretty good pace, therefore same should be expected of season 2.

2 READ THE MANGA: ANIME TOO FAR TO WATCH

Yes, with the pacing and the voice acting, but, the sole question remains, is Season 2 even confirmed? There is immense pressure on Ufotable to announce Season 2 of Demon Slayer and even when that happens, it may take quite a bit of time before it is available for broadcast.

Ergo, the manga is the best option available out of the two, given how chapters are released weekly.

1 WAIT FOR THE ANIME: DEMON SLAYER MOVIE COMING OUT IN 2020

What's that now? Demon Slayer movie is supposedly coming out in 2020. Immediately after Season 1 aired, a sequel film was announced, scheduled to air in 2020. With the pace of the first trailer, the movie should be at fingertips for watching purposes soon.

The movie, by the by, is named Infinity Train. It is on track for release in Japan in the coming year, a specific release date is not given. Hence, movie over the manga.
