A special, limited edition Blu-ray release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train Arc is on the way.Pre-orders are now being accepted at RightStufAnime.com. The Mugen Train Arc makes up the first part of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba's second season. It largely covers the same plot as the 2020 film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, which is Japan's highest-grossing movie of all time, earning over $500 million at the global box office. However, the television adaptation provides more detail and expands the overall story. The arc kicks off with all-new content that shows how Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, arrived at the titular train.

Koyoharu Gotouge published his Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, producing 23 volumes worth of content. The story follows protagonist Tanjiro Kamado, whose entire life changes after most of his family are brutally killed by demons and his younger sister is transformed into one. Alongside Eiichiro Oda's One Piece and Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball, Gotouge's series is one of the best-selling manga of all time with more than 150 million copies sold worldwide.

The first season of Ufotable's anime adaptation premiered in April 2019, and the second season debuted in 2021. A third season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, which will cover the Swordsmith Village arc, has been confirmed, but an official release date has not been announced.

The Mugen Train Arc's limited edition Blu-ray release isn't the only recent development for the Demon Slayer franchise. Crunchyroll is also releasing the story arc this fall on home video, and more notably, a live-action, stage adaptation will be performed at the Tokyo Dome City Hall on Sept. 10 and 11, before moving on to the Kyoto Theater from Sept. 16 – 25. Tickets go on sale in Japan on Aug. 20.

The entirety of Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga series is distributed in English by VIZ Media, and the first two seasons of the anime are available to on Crunchyroll.
