Both events are part of the on-going celebration surrounding the third anniversary of the Demon Slayer anime's original premiere. The incredibly popular shonen series is produced by animation studio Ufotable, which was previously best known for its work on Bandai Namco's Tales RPG series and several entries in the Fate/stay Night franchise. The show first aired in Japan on April 6, 2019 and quickly became one of the most popular anime in the world. The series' first season was followed up with the release of a movie, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train, which premiered in 2020 and would go on to become the highest-grossing anime film of all time. The anime's second season began airing in late 2021 and was mostly based around an adaptation of the highly regarded Entertainment District arc from the manga. The season was lauded by critics for its feature-quality animation and intricate action choreography. A third season has been confirmed to be in production.
