Funimation revealed that the English dub of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba's "Mugen Train" arc will be available to stream from Jan. 21.
Fans will be able to enjoy the arc with many of their favorite English voice actors returning to reprise their roles, such as Zach Aguilar (One Punch Man) as Tanjiro, Abby Trot (Kuroko's Basketball) as Nezuko, Aleks Le (Tokyo Revengers) as Zenitsu and Bryce Papenbrook (Attack on Titan) as Inosuke. Kicking off Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba's second season, the seven-episode arc readapts 2020's record breaking film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train for television. The miniseries differs from its film counterpart by beginning with an all-new original episode focused on the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku and by having new animation cuts and music, including two new theme songs from singer LiSA.
Taking place in Taisho-era Japan, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba takes place in a world plagued by demons, dangerous former humans who have exchanged their humanity for supernatural powers like super strength, magic and regeneration. One victim of the demons' brutality is Tanjiro Kamado, whose life is turned upside down when his entire family is attacked by one of these beasts. Although Tanjiro's younger sister Nezuko manages to survive the attack by being transformed into a demon herself, she shockingly still retains some of her humanity. The series follows these two siblings as Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Survey Corps in a bid to turn Nezuko back into a human and to locate the one responsible for his family's slaughter.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has enjoyed immense popularity since its manga began its serialization in February 2016 due to its engaging premise, fast-paced action and compelling characters. With over 150 million copies in circulation, it is the eighth best-selling manga series in history and the franchise generated an estimated 1 trillion yen in annual sales revenue in 2020. The first season of its anime adaption, which was produced by studio Ufotable, ran for 26 episodes in 2019 and received widespread critical acclaim, being named "Anime of the Year" at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards and the Tokyo Anime Awards Festival in 2020. The second half of the second season, which adapts the manga's "Entertainment District" arc is currently being simulcast by Crunchyroll and Funimation.
