Demon Slayer is a smash-hit animated series based on the manga of the same name, and it stars Tanjiro Kamado, a rookie demon slayer who is determined to restore his sister Nezuko's humanity and take down any demon who gets in his way. It takes incredible courage and resolve to become a professional demon hunter, and Tanjiro has what it takes. But he's not the only one.
Tanjiro soon met many more demon slayers, including the nine elite Hashira, and he also met some remarkably courageous and bold demons who didn't fear any slayer in mortal combat. So far in the Demon Slayer anime, certain characters stand out for their fearless nature.
10 Rui Was Ready To Fight Multiple Hashira
Rui was once the Lower Moon Five member of the Twelve Demon Moons/Kizuki, and he made an entire forest the home of his foster spider family. Rui tends to capture his enemies in webbing traps like a true spider, but he's also perfectly willing to fight his enemies head-on.
Rui fought Tanjiro and Nezuko, then stood up to the Hashira, including Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho. That was brave of him as a Lower Moon demon, but he was outclassed, and he lost his head to Giyu's blade. He died a warrior.
9 Akaza Refuses To Give In
It's easy for a powerhouse demon like Akaza to be brave in battle since he has sufficient strength to defeat nearly anyone who challenges him. Still, Akaza showed considerable resolve and courage when he arrived at the wrecked Mugen Train to take on multiple demon slayers all by himself.
Akaza mainly battled the flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, and he found Kyojuro's stubborn courage both impressive and frustrating. Akaza had a stubborn will to match Kyojuro's and only fled when he absolutely had to. He sure knows how to push Hashira to the limit.
8 Susamaru Enjoys Challenges
Like Akaza and Rui, the multi-armed Susamaru is confident and brave because she has demonic strength on her side, and she feels no fear when tormenting ordinary humans. She can also take on demon slayers, but some demon slayers might be too strong for her and her closed-eyed friend Yahaba, so she needs courage to fight them despite the odds.
Susamaru bravely took on Tanjiro and Nezuko despite not being a Moon, and she had an advantage for a while before Nezuko and Tanjiro finally turned the tables on her. Susamaru finally felt some fear, but she didn't dare run. She went down fighting.
7 Sanemi Shinazugawa Tempted A Demon With Blood
Not much has been seen of the wind Hashira just yet, but he did steal the scene when he took it upon himself to prove Nezuko's monstrous nature. Sanemi confronted Nezuko and forced open her box, then cut his arm to tempt the demonic Nezuko with his blood.
It takes a special kind of guts to offer one's own blood to a flesh-eating monster just to prove a point, and that's exactly what Sanemi does. No doubt he will be an equally decisive and bold fighter when he battles demons for real later in the anime.
6 Giyu Tomioka Would Have Challenged Muzan
Giyu Tomioka is the water Hashira, and he was also the first Hashira to appear in the series. He was too late to protect the Kamado family from the villainous Muzan Kibutsuji, but it was clear that if Giyu had been faster, he might have confronted Muzan anyway, which said a lot.
Giyu is a stoic but brave demons slayer otherwise, and he will coldly and efficiently take on any demon who gets in his way, including Rui the spider demon. He has nerves of steel, and he will probably need them for future battles, too.
5 Tanjiro Kamado Will Fight Any Demon For Duty's Sake
Tanjiro Kamado hasn't been a demon slayer for very long, but he's determined to make up for lost time and prove his worth to the Hashira. Most of all, he fights to restore Nezuko's humanity, and he can't afford to back down from any challenge. He might still get somewhat intimidated by a powerful demon, though.
Tanjiro isn't the type to recklessly charge at any foe, but he will assess his foe's strength and cautiously engage them in battle until he can find the perfect moment to strike and dispatch his foe. He and his allies also bravely took on Enmu, the Lower Moon one demon, in mortal combat.
4 Shinobu Kocho Fights Despite Her Low Physical Strength
Shinobu Kocho is the insect Hashira, and she is also the shortest and smallest of the nine Hashira. She has lower physical strength than the other eight, but she won't let that stop her. She has incredible skill with the sword, and she augments her fighting style with wisteria-based poison.
This allows Shinobu to confront and defeat demons who are many times stronger and bigger than she is, and no difference in size will intimidate her in battle. She fearlessly charged into the spider forest with Giyu to save Tanjiro's team, and she taunted the spiders rather than fearing them.
3 Nezuko Kamado Won't Hesitate To Help Her Brother
Nezuko Kamado doesn't always fight, but if the situation is dire, or if demons confront her directly, Nezuko will take action and employ her kick-based fighting style against any foe. She helped Tanjiro fight the tooth-grinding demon, and she certainly helped him fight Rui later on.
Nezuko actually dueled Susamaru at one point, fighting her with minimal aid from Tanjiro and other friends. Nezuko may not be Demon Slayer's strongest demon, but her bravery is commendable.
2 Inosuke Hashibira Will Fight Anything That Moves
Inosuke Hashibira was raised by animals, meaning he developed ultra-sharp instincts and senses as a self-taught demon slayer and swordsman. He has a straightforward and honest personality, and he makes it clear when he intends to challenge or fight someone, which happens often.
Inosuke is absolutely fearless in the face of the enemy, though a sufficiently powerful demon might intimidate him just a little, forcing him to accept his limits as a slayer. Otherwise, he is one of the series' most reckless and bold characters.
1 Kyojuro Rengoku Will Never Run
Kyojuro Rengoku is the beloved flame Hashira, and he learns from his father, a former flame Hashira himself. Kyojuro is also known for being an enthusiastic and friendly person who will gladly take on any challenge, no matter the risk. He is a go-getter to a fault.
Kyojuro is the hero of the Mugen Train story arc, and he confidently takes on many demons before being confronted by the powerhouse Akaza. Despite slowly falling behind in the duel, Kyojuro fearlessly presses on, refusing to yield or accept Akaza's offer to become a demon. Even at the cost of his life, Kojuro defies Akaza on principle, and never feels the slightest fear or hesitation. He sets a great example for Tanjiro and the others, even though he eventually loses the duel.
