Demon Slayer Fans Felt Misled

The irate fans claimed they felt forced to pay full price for two recap episodes and only a small glimpse of the show's upcoming season. One user even pointed out the use of the intros and outros and deemed them an effort to "extend the time." Many also sought to warn others about going to the cinema to watch the project, with one user even calling it a "disgusting scam & waste of time."

Ufotable, the animation studio behind the show, has released feature-length projects for the franchise before, with Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train. However, promoters never promised that To The Swordsmith Village was an original movie. Instead, the intention was always for it to recap the "Entertainment District" Arc finale and a debut for the release of the show's third season.

About Demon Slayer's Swordsmith Arc

The upcoming Swordsmith Village Arc follows on directly from the Entertainment District Arc, which saw Tanjro, Inoske, and Zenitsu team up with the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui to infiltrate the entertainment district and slay the demon threat that lurked there. This coming season will follow Tanjiro as he and another young slayer named Genya team up with the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and the Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji to defend the swordsmith village from Upper-Rank Demons.

Written by Koyoharu Gotogue and serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump, Demon Slayer ran from 2016 to 2020. The series follows a young man named Tanjiro who arrives home one day to find his family dead after a demon attack, save for his younger sister Nezuko, who became one after the attack. He then sets out on a journey to cure his sister and kill as many demons as he can as part of the Demon Slayer Corps.

Demon Slayer's "Swordsmith Village" Arc will air its first hour-long episode on April 9, 2023.
