As the name suggests, this organization’s one and only goal are to protect humans against the onslaught of demonic forces. It is neither a government nor a legal organization, but it still houses hundreds of slayers who work tirelessly day and night to kill demons. Though they're the focal point of the anime, not all of their motivations are explicitly explained.

10 Kagaya And Muzan Might Be From The Same Family

Although it is not stated explicitly, the manga implies heavily that Muzan and Kagaya are related to each other. Kagaya says that his bloodline was cursed because of a demon that came from it. This demon was the “Original Demon,” which would mean the first of its kind. Fans know that Muzan is the first demon ever, so it makes sense that Muzan comes from the Ubuyashiki bloodline.

9 Some Demon Slayers Are Cursed With A Mark

Tanjiro is the most prominent example of a Demon Slayer who has a mark on his face. However, he isn’t the only one. There are certain prerequisites for Demon Slayers in order to procure that mark which involve surviving near-death experiences wherein their body temperatures and heart rates are below very specific numbers.

8 Cost Of The Mark

The mark is not without its burden. While the mark does accord its masters a certain amount of powers, it comes at a huge price, which is the death of Demon Slayers whenever they turn 25 years of age. It has been speculated that this is because the mark absorbs the life span of its users in exchange for providing them with phenomenal powers.

7 The Abilities Of The Mark

One of the many abilities of those who possess the mark is to be able to see the joint movements, the flow of blood, and the muscles of all living beings.

This allowed them to predict with high precision the battle moves of their opponents, or in the field of medicine, know how well or badly their bodies were healing. Needless to say, this gave them a massive edge in every battle that they went into.

6 The First Mark

The first mark to ever been recorded on a Demon slayer was in the Sengoku Era. His name was Yoriichi Tsugikuni, and he was also the first Breathing Style user. Later on, other men who started practicing the Sun Breathing technique also came to possess the mark. Ever since then, the mark has appeared on the bodies of Demon Slayers who fit the qualifications of possessing a mark.

5 The Corps Has Various Breathing Styles

For those who don’t know, various swordsmanship styles were incorporated by the Corps, called Breathing Styles, which were taught to every new generation of Demon Slayers. Every style has its own unique properties that give its user-specific advantages on the battlefield. Overall, they make use of the oxygen in the Slayers’ bloodstream, along with their breathing patterns to enhance their mental and physical abilities.

4 All Hashiras Have Their Own Regions To Protect

The Hashiras are the best of the best when it comes to Demon Slayers, which is why they not only possess their very own unique Breathing Styles, but their own territories to protect. Every single Hashira is given authority over specific regions or areas wherein they not only have to protect them from demon attacks, but to also gather intel on the demons residing there.

3 The Qualifications For Being A Hashira

There are not many Hashira out there, and this is because the qualifications for being one are extremely tough. One has to either kill one of the Twelve most powerful demons of Muzan or kill a total of 50 random demons to qualify.

Currently, only Nine Hashira exist, whose position in the organization is directly under the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps.

2 The Demon Slayer Ranks

Like any other organization in the world, the Demon Slayer Corps has a strict hierarchy. The newest Demon Slayer is always allotted the Mizunoto rank by default, which is the lowest rank. From that, they have to train hard, practice their Breathing Styles, and kill demons in order to progress to various other upper ranks. The highest rank allotted to anyone in the organization is called the Kinoe.

1 Time Taken To Become A Hashira

It has been emphasized time and again in the manga, as well as in the anime, that it is near impossible to become a Hashira, simply because of how difficult its qualifications are.

The average Hashira needs a minimum of five years of training in order to become good enough to kill 50 demons, while some exceptional demon slayers have been known to take as little as one year to become a full-fledged Hashira.
