In many ways, demon slayers are similar to Soul Reapers in Bleach, being swordsmen who risk their lives daily to fight monsters to protect innocent lives. Many Soul Reapers could become demon slayers if asked, and Captain Byakuya Kuchiki of squad 6 could become a Hashira with ease.
Byakuya is a master at swordplay, and he also has a talent for leadership, which could help rally the spirits of lesser demon slayers during a mission. Byakuya has spent decades fighting Hollows; hunting demons should be no trouble at all.
9 Wrath Could Use His Powers For Good This Time (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
In the original story of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the eyepatched homunculus named Wrath was a villain, enforcing Father's will while posing as the human leader of Amestris. Wrath is an expert swordsman who shows no mercy or compassion to any foe, even if they beg for their lives. He can even cut down bullets from midair.
If he was convinced to fight for humanity, Wrath would make a fine Hashira, since he has leadership capabilities, just like Byakuya Kuchiki. He also has the necessary technique, and the Ultimate Eye, to take on any of the Twelve Kizuki and win.
8 Erza Scarlet Is Tough & Reliable (Fairy Tail)
Fairy Tail's Erza Scarlet is a master at the sword, though her magic is actually used for the sake of her armor, not just her weapons. During a fight, Erza can use Spatial magic to access an alternate dimension and equip any suit of armor that meets her needs.
Erza also has incredible strength of spirit and conviction, which is a must when facing overwhelming odds while fighting demons. She is stern but kind, and her big-sister persona could inspire and motivate lower-ranked demon slayers during a mission.
7 Thors Fights Hard For The Sake Of Others (Vinland Saga)
Thors earned the nickname "The Troll of Jom" due to his incredible endurance and strength in battle. Even among the elite Jomsvikings of Vinland Saga, he was a monster, but he eventually grew weary of battle and snuck off to start family on Iceland's peaceful coast. His sword days are over.
If the Hashira approached him, though, Thors might restart his career as a fighter. He sees no need to kill people, but demons are a different matter, and his charisma, endurance and skill would make him a truly inspiring Hashira. All demons will soon learn to fear the Norsemen.
6 Alice Zuberg Was A Fearsome Integrity Knight (Sword Art Online)
Alice Zuberg was Eugeo's childhood friend in Sword Art Online, until she was kidnapped and turned into an Integrity Knight at the hands of the Administrator. Now Alice is more like Byakuya Kuchiki, a stern and professional fighter who will never compromise on her principles.
Alice is brave, strong and highly skilled, and her knightly aura would be truly inspiring to other demon slayers whose spirits are faltering in the face of overwhelming demonic power. Whatever breathing technique Alice chooses to wield as a Hashira, she will surely master it.
5 Erwin Smith Can Lead Troops & Fight Through The Pain (Attack On Titan)
Attack on Titan features a number of highly talented fighters, such as the vicious Captain Levi Ackerman and the stoic but compassionate Mikasa Ackerman. However, they don't have the same charisma or leadership skills as Erwin Smith himself.
Erwin Smith is an expert fighter when facing Titans, and he can rally a battered, discouraged army and turn it into a true fighting force. He can even lead his men when losing an arm to the Titans, and that's the kind of stern stuff a new Hashira should be.
4 Guts Is Used To Slaughtering Monsters (Berserk)
Although Guts the mercenary from Berserk doesn't have the same charisma as characters such as Erwin Smith or Erza Scarlet, the Demon Slayer Corps would still make a serious effort to recruit him as a new Hashira. Guts has spent years fighting demons and monsters nonstop, and that experience is perfect for the job.
Guts is notoriously fast, durable and strong for his size, and he can swing his Dragon Slayer sword with great skill. If a Nichirin version of it can be built, then the Kizuki won't stand a chance against the Black Swordsman.
3 Kisho Arima Can Slaughter Any Ghoul With Sword-Shaped Quinque (Tokyo Ghoul)
Ghoul investigators in Tokyo Ghoul are a lot like demon slayers, being highly-trained agents who are used to scouring the night for monsters and disposing of them. Ghouls, like demons, are man-eating beasts who are only vulnerable to certain kinds of weapons, and CCG investigators like Kisho Arima are ready to fight.
Arima is wildly talented and has sword-shaped quinque, or anti-ghoul weapons. Given his skills, experience and faith, Arima is a must-have for the Hashira, and the Demon Slayer Corps would go to any length to recruit him.
2 Roronoa Zoro Is Tough Enough To Face Any Demon (One Piece)
Roronoa Zoro has become one of anime's most famous and beloved swordsmen, alongside Tanjiro, and it's easy to see why. Zoro is tough, brave and is always ready to learn something new and push himself beyond his limits. He is used to fighting with three swords at once in One Piece, a challenge many demons won't be ready for.
Zoro has incredible skills in combat, but he is also remarkably durable, just like Erza Scarlet, and without the benefit of her many armored suits. As Kyojuro Rengoku demonstrated in Mugen Train, only the toughest demon slayers can come close to handling an Upper Moon in combat. Zoro is ready.
1 Hinata Sakaguchi Has Impressive Technique & Has No Mercy On Monsters (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime)
Hinata Sakaguchi is a skilled knight commander for the Church the isekai world of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and she is sworn to destroy all monsters for the sake of humanity. Unfortunately, this puts her at odds with Rimuru Tempest's monster nation, but Hinata is not evil. She is merely doing her duty.
Hinata would gladly join the Demon Slayer Corps as well, and obtain the rank of Hashira so she can quickly and efficiently dispatch all demons and ensure the safety of all humans. The Church and Demon Slayer Corps definitely have some overlap.
