The most recent Hashira to take center stage in the world of Demon Slayer goes by the name Tengen Uzui. The former Shinobi and resident Sound Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corp. serves as a mentor to Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu as they work to draw out the demon hiding in the shadows of Tokyo's Entertainment District.

Much like Rengoku welcomed Tanjiro into his party for the Mugen Train Arc, the Sound Hashira gives the fledgling Demon Slayer a chance to learn under his stead. Demon Slayer may be the flashiest anime of all time for casting two loud and proud mentor figures in subsequent arcs, but they are not the first.

10 Naruto Is A Loud Shinobi With A Troubled Past

Naruto grins and points

As a protagonist of one of the Big Three anime series, Naruto Uzumaki has been used as a model for a long list of new-gen characters. Tengen Uzui is one of many who borrow from Naruto.

Tengen is loud, flashy, and incredibly unpredictable, just like Naruto. For example, Tengen let Gyutaro cut off his hand and assume him defeated before restarting his own heart and making a final lunge at the Upper Rank demon with his Musical Score technique.

As one of the deuteragonists of the Fruits Basket anime series, Yuki Sohma has earned a lot of recognition among anime fans. He has also earned a lot of recognition from the female cast of Fruits Basket. The silver-haired high schooler is much more reserved than Tengen Uzui, but his visual similarities and lovable personality make them easy to compare.

8 Aoi Todo & Tengen Uzui Would Make A Fantastic Set Of Friends

Jujutsu Kaisen's Aoi Todo readying a heavy punch in front of the trees

Although some might assume that Satoru Gojo is the most outgoing character in Jujutsu Kaisen, dedicated fans know that this title belongs to Aoi Todo. The 3rd year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High is a powerful sorcerer with massive muscles, booming vocal cords, and a flashy personality.

By combining Todo's outspoken manner with Yuji's poison resistance and Gojo's beautiful face, fans can find the approximation of Tengen's character in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. This act of imagination also proves just how versatile Tengen Uzui is as an anime character.

7 Tengen Is Introduced As A More Controversial Version Of Rengoku

The former Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku is introduced in Demon Slayer's Mugen Train Arc as a loud and confident member of the Demon Slayer Corp. When Tanjiro joins Rengoku's party it quickly becomes clear that the Hashira is as powerful as he is flashy.

Tengen Uzui is introduced as another powerful and flashy Hashira immediately after the death of Rengoku. The only difference between these two characters is the degree of flashiness that Tengen carries himself with and the controversial ways that Tengen uses his power.

6 No Matter The Odds, Asta & Tengen Never Give Up

Asta flexing with stars in his eyes

Though many believe Asta possesses no magic, he makes it very clear throughout Black Clover that his magic is never giving up. While this might seem like Asta is just trying to make up for his weakness, his tenacity an impressive power that few other mages can match.

Much like Asta, Demon Slayer's Tengen is a character who refuses to give up. Even after losing his hand against an Upper Rank Demon, he digs his feet in and manages to work alongside Tanjiro to take off Gyutaro's head.

The former number 1 hero of Japan has a lot in common with the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui. Both anime characters are put in the role of mentor and both approach battle with a list of confident and exclamatory statements.

Whenever My Hero Academia's All Might arrives on the scene of a crime he proudly shouts, "I am here!" Tengen might not have a single recognizable catch phrase, but he has a number of memorable quotes that match All Might's energy.

Soul Eater's Black Star may never go as far as calling himself a god, but he does boldly claim that he will surpass god. He does this with the same conviction that can be seen in the words of Tengen Uzui. Perhaps it is in both of these characters' dark pasts that they found the strength to walk with pride in the present day.

When Bonolenov is first introduced in Hunter X Hunter he is a misfit character. Until the Chimera Ant arc, this member of the Phantom Troupe is seen as little more than a mummy with boxing gloves.

When Bonolenov finds himself face to face with a Chimera Ant, he sheds his wraps to reveal a body that has been built into a musical instrument. The dancing warrior utilizes the sound created by his body in a way that would make Demon Slayer's flashy Sound Hashira proud.

2 Ling Yao's Playful Personality Is Tempered Only By His Allegiance To His Allies

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is full of characters who get close to living up to the prestige of Tengen Uzui. Edward Elric's inferiority complex often leads him into outbursts that match the angry tone of Tengen's voice during his introduction, but it is Ed's friend Ling who gets closest to matching Tengen's flashy personality.

The prince of Xing carries himself with a boyish charm that pervades his personality in the darkest of times. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's Ling almost always has a smile on his face and the only time he seems to lose this playful attitude is when one of his bodyguards is in danger.

1 Tengen's Energy Mid-Fight Matches Goku's

Nobody revels in the heat of battle quite like Goku from the Dragon Ball franchise. The battle hungry Saiyan went as far as gambling with the lives of every man, woman, and child in his universe to enter an inter-universal Tournament of Power in his most recent canonical series.

While Tengen doesn't seek out combat quite as ferociously as Goku, he does seem to enjoy himself when caught in the middle of a conflict. After being poisoned by Gyutaro in the Entertainment District Arc, Tengen lets out a list of flashy exclamations before throwing his life on the line to take down the Upper Rank Demon.
