Elden Ring has plenty of options for different builds and item combinations with plenty of items that work with each. The Demi-Human Queen's Staff, in particular, is a good item for mage builds. The staff is located pretty early on in the game, so it's a great option for beginner players or even just those who want a good item early on.

The weapon has some interesting lore, too, as it was supposed to be a peace offering to demi-humans. It's immediately obvious that it didn't work, since demi-humans are still hostile in the game and the staff itself is in an area infested with them, but that just adds to the intrigue of the item. Overall, it's a pretty compelling and essential item for any gamer interested in playing a mage build without playing as the Astrologer class. Here's where and how to acquire the Demi-Human Queen's Staff.

The staff is thankfully in a pretty easy place to locate. South of Limgrave, the beginning area of the game, there's a region called the Weeping Peninsula. Once there, the player can go northwest of the Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace to find the Demi-Human Forest Ruins. There's a mini-boss in the middle of the remains of the church, but the player really shouldn't enter that fight until they're at least level 15. This can be achieved easily by rune-farming in a few different places.

As for fighting the mini-boss, the Demi-Human Queen, players should first be mindful of her minions. There are quite a few of them, and they'll scream to alert the others if they see the player. They can quickly swarm, so stealth is the best strategy against them. The same strategy should be used against The Demi-Human Chief, who also lies in wait in the ruins. When it comes to the queen,  use a Spirit Summon like Lone Wolf Ashes to distract her, and roll forward to dodge her attacks. Then, use long-range spells like Glintstone Pebble or Glintstone Stars to focus on attacking her in-between her strikes. Once defeated, she'll drop the Demi-Human Queen Staff and Crystal Burst Sorcery.

The Demi-Human Queen Staff is a Glintstone staff that scales with Strength and Intelligence. The staff is only usable with 10 or higher Intelligence, and Crystal Burst is available with 18 or more. It acts sort of like a shotgun blast, which makes it good for fighting smaller enemies that dodge at a close range.

The staff isn't the best staff in the game for low and high sorcery builds, but from 10 to 40 Intelligence, it's unmatched when it's fully upgraded. For less than 10 Intelligence, mages will find more luck with the Meteorite Staff, and for 40+ Intelligence, players should switch to the Academy Glintstone Staff. It can't be enchanted with Magic, but its Intelligence scaling changes to B at 3+ upgrades using Smithing Stones, which you can get by trading in Somberstone Miner's Bell Bearings to the Twin Maiden Husks.
