After almost three long years of waiting, fans were delighted by the release of Chapter 2 of Deltarune, Toby Fox's follow-up to the enormously successful and well-loved Undertale. Featuring many of the same characters and elements, but apparently telling a very different storyDeltarune has made players remember how great the original games were while still giving them something brand new.

This new chapter takes place mainly in Cyber World, a fantastical version of a library's computer lab, where everything seems to be made of wires and code. As with Chapter 1, it's also home to some characters with brilliant dialogue and fantastic designs.

10 Virovirokun Is Adorable - As Long As It Stays Far Away From Our Computers

Trust Deltarune to make even computer viruses adorable. Virovirokun might be out to corrupt files, but its cute design, complete with heart-shaped antennae, will also have it getting past the firewall of players' hearts.

Plus, sparing them in battle means that we get to see the heroes dressed up in little doctor's outfits, which is just about the cutest thing ever - look at Ralsei's cake! Sometimes, everyone just needs a bit of tender loving care, and it seems that the inhabitants of Cyber World are no exception.

9 Swatchlings Give Kris A Warm Welcome To The Queen's Mansion

With their geometric, bird-like designs combined with butler uniforms, Swatchlings - which can be seen in the Queen's Mansion, trying to protect her extensive collection of very breakable vases - have a simple but very appealing design.

Battling them also leads to some really interesting combat - or rather, non-combat. In order to Spare them, players have to either warm them up or cool them down in order to change their colors to all match. It shows off what Deltarune is so good at: making what could be tedious enemy battles into fun puzzles.

8 Werewire Is The Perfect Mix Of Creepy And Cute

deltarune werewire

Werewire is the first monster that players will battle in Chapter 2, and they do their job as introductory enemies perfectly. As harmless Plugboys that Queen has taken control of using mind-controlling wires, they offer a subtly creepy glimpse of what might happen to all residents of Dark World, should the Heroes fail to defeat Queen.

Despite being unsettlingly zombie-like, Werewire retains a typically Deltarune element of fun with its candy-colored design. Plus, nothing could be more fun than getting Susie to chuck Kris at them over and over again.

7 Nubert Is The Blob Everyone Loves

deltarune nubert

First appearing as a bonus edition to Chapter 1 in the stream played for Undertale's 6th anniversary, Nubert immediately caught fans' attention - probably because it's pretty funny to see Ralsei and Susie say "My man!" to a little red blob.

His real home seems to be Cyber World, as he can be found in three different locations there. All that's really known about Nubert is that everyone loves him, which he makes sure to point out every time the player encounters him. And, with his big smile and penchant for amusing blonde wigs, it's not hard to see why.

6 Tasque Manager Isn't Kitten Around In Battle

Armed with a whip and a burning hatred for things that aren't in their proper place, Tasque Manager blocks the heroes' journey through Queen's Mansion. But, while she attacks players who answer her questions wrongly, she's far from evil - she even appears to help end a battle later on.

Enemies with more human designs always tend to appeal more to fans, and Tasque Manager is no exception - they'll definitely be plenty of cosplays of her in the future. Plus, with her obsession with order, she acts as a foil to Chapter 1's massively popular bonus boss Jevil, an agent of total chaos.

5 Dess Holiday Is Never Seen But Makes A Big Impact

deltarune dess

Noelle Holiday's older sister, Dess, got a few mentions in dialogue back in Chapter 1, but it's in this chapter that the player truly starts to understand how important she was to Noelle, who often mentions her while exploring Cyber World.

It seems likely that Dess, or her absence, will have an important role in later chapters - particularly if the choices the player can make regarding Noelle, who can be pushed into Deltarune's equivalent of a 'No Mercy' run, come back to haunt the characters.

4 Swatch Is A Truly Colorful Shopkeeper

One of the small details that makes Deltarune stand out from other RPGs is that shopkeepers aren't just generic characters that sell Kris potions. When in a shop, the "talk" option allows Kris to have a real conversation with them, learning about their character and some bonus lore about Dark World.

When it comes to Swatch, Queen's head butler (who also manages the Mansion's combination gift shop and café), talking to them reveals more about life under Queen's rule as well as expanding the backstory of Spamton and telling a hilarious story about Rouxls Karrd.

3 Sweet Cap'n Cakes Will Have Kris Joining Their Dance Party

Any one of the Darkners that make up the three-man band of Sweet Cap'n Cakes could have made it onto this list themselves, but they really shine as a team. Battling or talking to them means getting plenty of hilariously chaotic dialogue as Sweet and Cap'n desperately appeal to the oblivious K_K for help.

Plus, fittingly for a group of sentient music players, they bring some great tunes to the game. It's nice to have at least some allies against Queen - especially when they come with their own dance party.

2 Spamton Is A Bonus Boss Worth Checking Your Inbox For

deltarune spamton

Combining the characters of an online scammer and a sleazy salesman, Spamton is not only Chapter 2's bonus boss but one of its funniest and most interesting NPCs. With a ventriloquist dummy-like design that lands just on the funny side of creepy and dialogue that sounds straight from everyone's spam folder, players will certainly want to complete his sidequest and find out just what his deal is.

If the player chooses to help him, he will upgrade himself to Spambot NEO, prompting one of the most difficult and fun battles in Deltarune so far. He might end up being defeated by Kris, but, to players, he's already made it as a big shot.

1 Queen Is The Series' Best Villain Yet

deltarune queen

What would a great videogame be without a great final boss? This chapter of Deltarune also had a lot to live up to, since Undertale's boss fights are some of the most iconic and well-loved in modern gaming. But Queen, the royal robot determined to make all the residents of Dark World her loyal subjects, has managed to steal players' hearts - even while they're beating her up.

She may have an evil plan, but she's also totally loveable, thanks to her hilarious dialogue and genuine fondness for Noelle (and her very relatable dislike of Berdly). Plus, everyone loves a boss that you have to challenge to a fighting game battle.
