The trailer was first screened at Madison Square Garden in front of a 5,600-seat audience before a panel discussion that included series creator del Toro along with voice talents Kelsey Grammer, Ron Perlman, Steven Yeun and Charlie Saxton along with Executive Producers Marc Guggenheim and Rodrigo Blaas. The lead character was voiced by actor Anton Yelchin, who tragically died in a car accident in June. The audience also screened the first episode and viewed new art from the show.

From DreamWorks Animation, "Trollhunters" is a classic tale of good and evil that centers around suburban teenager Jim Lake Jr., who accidentally stumbles across a magic amulet that transports him to the secret civilization of trolls living below his small town of Arcadia. Jim abruptly becomes the first human tasked with the role of trollhunter, which means he must protect the good trolls from their vengeful enemies. With the help of a handful of troll allies and a couple of his human buddies, Jim has to survive the brutally mundane world of high school while defending a fantastic realm of wild creatures.

Known for directing epics with stunning visuals such as "Pacific Rim" and "Pan's Labyrinth," del Toro has devoted much of the last decade to "Trollhunter," which has become a passion project for the filmmaker.

"Dreamworks' Trollhunters" will premiere globally December 23 on Netflix.
