One of the more interesting comic-based movies being discussed has to be Guillermo del Toro's Dark Universe, the Warner Bros. project first rumored in November as Heaven Sent. Soon after, del Toro confirmed its existence, saying he was in talks with the studio about a film showcasing DC Comics' supernatural characters like Swamp Thing, the Demon and John Constantine.

The always-busy filmmaker has updated IGN on the project, noting he's working on an outline and has a screenwriter he describes as "perfect." Del Toro also made it clear that he's still very early in the process and doesn't even have a deal yet. However, he's excited about the potential. "We don't know until they greenlight the movie," he said.

Addressing the film's lineup, del Toro mentioned the previously named characters, and added a few more to the list. "I don't want to say because then you'll know the plot," he said. "I can safely say Zatanna Zatara [or should that be Zatanna, Zatara?], Deadman."

He went on to say that he and Warner Bros. began talking about the project before the success of The Avengers. "They were galvanized to make their universe cohesive," he said. Del Toro added that he thinks studio executives are confident with what they have in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel and are now ready to move on with two solid pillars -- Batman being the other, of course.
