Jahmil French, the actor who played Dave Turner on Degrassi: The Next Generation (later retitled Degrassi), has passed away at the age of 29."I can confirm my good friend, co-worker, and all around inspiration, Jahmil French, passed away yesterday," Soundtrack creator Joshua Safron tweeted. "Only posting because I see the story getting out there. I will have more to say about him later. Right now we’re all just processing this devastating news."French's Dave Turner debuted on Degrassi in 2009 during Season 9 as a freshman student and the cousin of Chantay Black whose goal was to make a name for himself. This involved pulling a prank on the much larger and physically imposing Bruce the Moose. Over the course of the next few seasons, Dave would mature greatly and have a lengthy on-screen relationship with Ali Bhandari. His final appearance was in Season 13 in 2013 after attending a memorial for Adam Torres, with whom Dave shared an arc in which he overcame transphobia.Several of French's co-stars paid their respects to the actor on social media:

Following his tenure on Degrassi, French would go on to appear in numerous other television projects, including The Divide, Remedy, Let's Get Physical and the aforementioned Soundtrack. He also co-starred in the 2016 film Boost.
