Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Matt Murdock hop the subway in the latest photos from the set of "Marvel's The Defenders."
Captured Friday on location in New York City, the images by photographer Steve Sands depict stars Mike Colter, Krysten Ritter and Charlie Cox, during filming -- and, it appears, between takes -- of the upcoming series.
Premiering this summer on Netflix, the eight-episode miniseries brings together Cox’s Murdock and Ritter’s Jones with Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Danny Rand to confront a threat that’s too big for any one of them to handle alone. Details of “The Defenders” remain closely guarded, but we do know that Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra is the primary antagonist, and that the four heroes meet at Midland Circle, where Matt and Elektra discovered that mysterious hole in “Daredevil” Season Two, which may suggest the Hand also plays a role.
"The Defenders" will arrive in the wake of "Marvel's Iron Fist," which introduces Danny Rand -- promoted by Marvel and Netflix as "the final Defender" -- as well as Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, who'll also play a role in the miniseries. As confirmed by the newly released trailer, Wai Ching Ho will return in "Iron Fist" as Madame Gao, the New York City crime lord who helped to menace Matt Murdock in "Daredevil" Season Two.
“Marvel’s The Defenders” stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Elodie Yung, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Rosario Dawson, Rachael Taylor and Scott Glenn.
