This is Wedding Bells Are Ringin', a month-long examination of notable comic book weddings, since this is June, after all, and that's a time for weddings. I let you all vote and you voted for this feature to spotlight real AND fake weddings. I've decided, then, to only go with weddings that actually ended with marriages, whether dreams or not (in other words, everything but called off weddings).

Today, we look at the wedding of Patsy Walker and Daimon Hellstrom in Defenders #125 by J.M. DeMatteis, Don Perlin and Kim DeMulder.

Patsy Walker, Hellcat, was a longtime member of the Defenders when she met and fell in love with the Son of Satan, Daimon Hellstrom. They were away from the team while the Beast had joined the team and was trying to slowly build the team up as a "real" team. Beast was disappointed after the Vision and Scarlet Witch (who had recently retired from the Avengers) also turned down Beast's offer to join the Defenders. However, his buddy Iceman had been visiting him and then their mutual friend, Angel, also came to visit both of them. In Defenders #125, longtime Defender, Valkyrie, showed up along with Moondragon, who Valkyrie had been put in charge of by Odin as punishment for Moondragon's previous actions against Asgard.

The Defenders' housekeeper then let everyone know that Patsy and Daimon are getting married!

However, as you can see, Patsy's ex-husband, Buzz Baxter, now the villainous Mad Dog, overheard the news.

Later on, the various heroes (including Angel and Iceman, who didn't even know Patsy and Daimon) show up for the wedding...

It's then interrupted by an attack by Mad Dog and Mutant Force...

Mad Dog is cruel to Patsy...

Things are looking bad, but Moondragon, who had been limited in the use of her power through a headband Odin gave her, fought though the pain to save Patsy (who she had been friends with in the past)...

This gave Hellstrom the chance to kick Mad Dog's butt. They decided to then finish the ceremony quickly...

They get married and then their successful defense of the wedding from the attack inspired Beast to get all of the heroes there (sans Patsy and Daimon) to form a NEW Defenders...
