Just in time for the August 18 release, Netflix's The Defenders miniseries has been certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
If Marvel and Netflix were hoping for a heavy dose of redemption after the critical failure that was their Iron Fist series, a 78% fresh rating on the media score aggregator Rotten Tomatoes is a good start. The eight-episode series sees characters from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist together for the first time, and will lead to Phase 2 of Marvel's shared narrative universe on Netflix.
The general consensus among reviewers is that The Defenders takes some time to get going, but once it does it's worth the wait. Our review of the miniseries can be found over at CBR's The Defenders review. The real test is how fans receive the show when it premieres in its entirety tomorrow on Netflix.
Arriving August 18 on Netflix as an eight-episode miniseries, The Defenders stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios, Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra, Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
