While it remains to be seen whether there will ever be a Heroes For Hire television project, the stars of Marvel’s Netflix dramas are certainly doing their best to stoke anticipation among fans.
“Luke Cage” star Mike Colter first teased the possibility in October, saying, “Yeah, we’re getting ready to do ‘Heroes For Hire’ eventually, come on,” and then dropping clues to a homage in “The Defenders” miniseries. Now it’s the turn of “Iron Fist” star Finn Jones, who describes the dynamic between Danny Rand and Luke Cage as “effortless.”
“I kind of feel like when you’ve got a duo like this, which is so hyped up by the fans, there’s a worry that it might be oversold,” he told IGN, “and you may be kind of trying too hard to create that spark. But, actually, between me and Mike, we get on really well; there’s a really great energy between the two of us as actors […] but then also as the characters, and the way the scenes are written, it’ll be interesting the way they’re doing it. And it’s a real slow build, and it feels very real, and … just very dynamic and honest. Some of the ‘Defenders’ scenes with Mike have been my favorite so far.”
Jones and Colter are joined in the eight-episode summer miniseries by Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, as well as Elodie Yung as Elektra, Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker and Scott Glenn as Stick.
However, before “The Defenders,” Jones debuts March 17 as Danny Rand in “Iron Fist,” which also stars Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, David Wenham as Harold Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum and Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum.
