Sigourney Weaver's villain addresses each of The Defenders by name and explains why their attempts to foil the Hand's plans are futile in the final trailer for the anticipated Marvel/Netflix series.

While we don't get to see the newly-formed team get physical with Alexandra, Weaver's enigmatic bad guy makes it clear that she knows who each of the heroes is. Responding to a question from Stick, she runs down the roster of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, the Devil of Hell's Kitchen and the Iron Fist, as she calmly sits in a Chinese restaurant, laying out her plans for conquest.
As Alexandra speaks, the trailer shifts from the restaurant to a montage of scenes from the series. As she threaten-lectures the team, we see a variety of clips showing the heroes' friends and family in danger, Madame Gao's Hand soldiers confronting the Defenders, and a quick shot of Danny Rand punching an unmasked Matt Murdock. Alexandra not only threatens the team's associates, but thousands of innocents as well. "New York," she points out, "is so densely populated."

Of course, despite the seriousness of Alexandra's threat, and the overall somber tone of the trailer, there's still a moment of levity amidst the darkness as Jessica deliberately yank's Danny chain by messing up his Iron Fist name. Even here, Danny gets no respect.
Arriving Aug. 18 on Netflix, the eight-episode Defenders stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios, Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra, Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
