Devolver Digital has shown off more footage of Death's Door, an upcoming action RPG developed by Acid Nerve.

The new gameplay trailer, released as a part of Day of the Devs 2021, shows off more of Death's Door's tough-as-nails combat as well as new characters, bosses and weapons. Players will assume control of the Crow, a run-of-the-mill reaper, who needs to track down his stolen soul in the land of the dead. Developer Acid Nerve has placed emphasis on designing tight controls to ensure that skillful play is rewarded while mistakes will be punished in what it describes as a very difficult action RPG.

Much like Acid Nerve's previous title Titan's Souls, boss encounters will play a large role in Death Door's gameplay loop. Players will need to fight and defeat several towering bosses in their journey to reclaim the Crow's soul, each one with unique stories and motivations.

The Crow will be equipped with a range of melee weapons, arrows and magical abilities to combat the various enemies and bosses. Acid Nerve also confirmed that players will be able to customize and upgrade the stats of their character so as to find a playstyle that best suits them. Players can choose to focus on one of the three combat styles or approach the game as a jack-of-all-trades.

Citing The Legend of Zelda as inspiration, Death's Door is attempting to craft a deep and meaningful world populated by unique characters. While the world of the game is grim on its own, Acid Nerve says that the story focuses more on hope, a theme that is communicated through the humor expressed by many of the game's characters.

Death's Door launches in summer 2021 for Xbox One and PC. Acid Nerve has yet to confirm whether the game will launch on Game Pass.
