On Twitter, artist Stanley "Artgerm" Lau shared his variant cover for Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman's Mighty Thor #705 ahead of the comic's March release. The issue will launch the "Death of Thor" storyline, which will be the culmination of Jane Foster's time as the Goddess of Thunder.
As in previously released variants, Lau's cover finds the Goddess of Thunder removing her helmet. Since taking over as Thor, Jane Foster has almost never been seen without her helmet. Though she did remove her helmet in Avengers #8 by Jeremy Whitley and Phil Noto, she usually wears it in her solo comics. Since this is the case, her removal of her helmet -- even on a variant cover -- is a significant move for the comic.
Ever since Jane picked up the hammer, she has battled cancer in addition to super villains. It's unclear whether she will succumb to her deadly disease or one of her many foes. Fans will just have to pick up the issue to find out.
Aaron and Dauterman's The Mighty Thor #705 arrives on March 21.
