As the Batman Who Laughs escalates his nefarious plans in Dark Nights: Death Metal, the villain has taken on a new, twisted protege in the sinister Robin King.

The new villain gets his own one-shot special issue this October as revealed in DC Comics' advance solicitation information for its titles going on sale October 2020. The tie-in issue is poised to expose the secrets of the adolescent serial killer, with a utility belt loaded with weaponry specifically designed to kill all of the DC Universe's superheroes. • With a utility belt filled to the brim with weapons designed to kill every hero in the DCU, Robin King is the most sadistic soldier in the Darkest Knight evil army! Can anyone stop him from laying waste to Earth’s last line of defense? And how did he become one of the Batman Who Laugh’s goblins in the first place? And in the backup story, can the Robins liberate Gotham City from the Darkest Knight’s control?

Death Metal writer Scott Snyder, who created the Robin King with Greg Capullo, had previously hinted that the new character was as one of the most horrific characters he had created for DC, noting that killing heroes is "all he thinks about." With the fate of the DC Multiverse hanging in the balance, the heroes may have encountered their most fearsome opponent yet in the demonic incarnation of the Boy Wonder.
