The Batmobile has seen a multitude of different designs already, not just in the pages of comic books, but in films, television shows and more. Never before has the fictional vehicle ever been presented to readers as a monster truck. Until now.Artist Greg Capullo posted a sketch of the monstrous iteration of the Batmobile from Dark Nights: Death Metal #2. The image showcases the Dark Knight's famous transport driving over a grim landscape in the Dark Multiverse. The image seems to draw inspiration, at least in part, from early designs of the Batmobile, marked by a bat-themed hood ornament.RELATED: Dark Nights: Death Metal Sneak Peek Teases a Legion of Hellish Batmen

Dark Nights: Death Metal is a sequel to the crossover event and miniseries, Dark Nights: Metal. It revolves around the Dark Multiverse-- a collection of temporary universes acting as negative counterparts to a positive reality. Artwork teased by the series' many artists reveal that the Batmobile is far from the only new Batman-centric design readers are likely to see.

The sequel event is the culmination of Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen and writer Scott Snyder's Justice League run. Dark Nights: Death Metal will see reality consumed by energy from the Dark Multiverse, thanks to The Batman Who Laughs and the Infected. It will be up to Wonder Woman and the remainder of Earth's heroes to stop it all.

Written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Greg Capullo with inks by Jonathan Glapion and colors by FCO Plascencia, Dark Nights: Death Metal #1 goes on sale May 13 from DC Comics.
