In the final battle between the armies of the Darkest Knight's twisted multiverse and the remaining warriors of the core DC Multiverse in Dark Nights: Death Metal, DC's heroes have had to face nightmarish alternate reality versions of the heroes themselves. In addition to being purely unsettling, these dark reflections all have access to the kind of power that has long allowed the heroes to save the day from any threat. In some cases, they can even come close to overwhelming the heroes, despite their own impressive abilities.

This is almost the fate of the Teen Titans, who are confronted by corrupted versions of themselves during the height of the final battle of Death Metal: The Last 52 - The War for the Multiverse.

Dark Multiverse Titans

During the final war for the future against the forces of the Dark Multiverse, a group of current and former Teen Titans end up briefly fighting alongside each other: Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Damian Wayne, Red Arrow and Aqualad. During the chaos, the ground beneath these six gives way, landing them all in a cavern. There, they're confronted by Dark Multiverse versions of each of themselves, who are all revealed to be the denizens of darker worlds where each young hero committed a brutal betrayal before joining a twisted version of the Teen Titans.

Each of these heroes twists a familiar Titans tale on its head. Like many versions of the Teen Titans, the team was assembled by Raven, who embraced her father Trigon's demonic influence. Starfire proved more murderous, even seemingly killing her sister in cold blood. Red Arrow never escaped the influence of Shado, leading the two to work together and murder Green Arrow. Aqualad never accepted Black Manta as his father and even threw himself into his life, helping take down Aquaman. Beast Boy and Terra never separated, with the pair being implied to work together against the heroes of their world. Finally, Damian Wayne gave into his darker legacy over his more heroic one -- siding with Ra's al Ghul over Batman and helping slaughter his father. After becoming a team, the Dark Raven even empowered them with Trigon's energy, transforming them even further.

Death Metal Raven

Raven does her best to fight back against her darker self, but it isn't long before her teammates are shown being wounded, injured, and broken down by their darker counterparts. In the end, Raven is able to use her powers to rescue the other Titans and cast out their Dark Multiverse counterparts. Although there are far more important battles taking place across the battlefield, it's still a vital victory for Raven to achieve.

In defeating her dark counterpart, Raven ensured the survival of her teammates, each of whom is set to have more important future roles in the DC Universe. Meanwhile, this also shows that Raven has truly overcome the darker impulses in her that come from her father and his attempts to corrupt her. Instead, she's powerful enough to not only resist them but fight them back, even if just at the end of the world.
