The Merc with a Mouth has grown two extra arms and is diving into full-on body horror territory in newly released cover art for Deadpool #3.

Revealed in Marvel's January 2023 solicitations, Deadpool #3's cover comes from series artist Martin Coccolo and colorist Neeraj Menon. The artwork sees Wade Wilson brandishing an extra pair of arms, both of which are holding katanas, while he stands over a defeated-looking alien monster. Written by Alyssa Wong, the synopsis for Deadpool #3 reads, "You ever had a stomachache so bad, it felt like something was trying to tear its way out of you? Yeah, Deadpool did too – and it turned out he was right. Looks painful, feels worse…and it’s not over yet."

Marvel Gives Deadpool a Brand-New Series

Marvel announced Deadpool is getting a new ongoing series from Wong and Coccolo in August. The first issue of the series releases Nov. 2 and sees Wade fighting his own body after he comes to a startling realization. The synopsis reads, "The world knows Wade Wilson is one of the top mercenary/assassins in the Marvel Universe, even if he is simultaneously the most annoying one…but he’s pushing to make that recognition official as he auditions for the elite group known as the Atelier. Now, he has 48 hours to kill one of the world’s most famous supervillains. Only problem? He’s been kidnapped, and something…strange…is GROWING INSIDE HIM." Solicitation information for Deadpool #2, which releases Dec. 14, additionally reveals the supervillain Wade is trying to kill is one of Spider-Man's greatest foes, Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus.

"I love chaos," Wong previously said of the new series. "And what is Deadpool if not chaos incarnate? I'm honored to take the reins for Wade's next solo adventure--expect romance, expect body horror, and expect a wild time!" Coccolo added, "Some time ago I got to do a ten-page story for Deadpool: Black, White & Blood. It was an awesome albeit short experience which left me wanting for more, so when I was asked if I wanted to take the reins of a new Deadpool series I responded with a resounding yes! Then I got to read Alyssa's script and I loved it! Their script is inventive, dynamic and a lot of fun and working with Alyssa is an absolute joy. They are the best! So I honestly couldn't be happier with this opportunity and I think, or at least hope, that readers notice how fun this project is for everyone involved and hopefully they hop on the ride with us!"

Deadpool #3 features cover art by Romina Jones and Todd Nauck. The issue goes on sale Jan. 18, 2023, from Marvel.
