Deadpool absolutely loves to break the fourth wall, and he took the opportunity to do just that Tuesday during the opening monologue of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Speaking about the abundance of superhero movies, Colbert wondered when the fatigue would start. That's when Ryan Reynolds' the Merc With a Mouth surprised the audience with some banter to promote Deadpool 2.
After making a playful jab at CBS, Deadpool asked to be a guest, only for Colbert to suggest that Jamie Foxx was already booked for the evening. Deadpool confused him with Michael J. Fox, saying, "He's got boyish charm for days," and mentioning role in Back to the Future.
Deadpool went on to suggest Colbert never invite Ryan Reynolds to appear. "He's like the poor man's version of Ryan Reynolds," he said, "and like the rich man's version of my most recent turd."
The hero closed out his cameo by comparing late-night hosts to superheroes, because they're "mostly white men," and making some Donald Trump jokes before fading from existence. "Oh, what the [BLEEP]? Thanos?" he said as he began to turn to dust. "You don't have the budget for this, Colbert!"
Deadpool 2 hits theaters Friday nationwide. It's directed by David Leitch’s and stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Julian Dennison as Russell and Josh Brolin as Cable.
