Deadpool will be starring in a new arena, thanks to Shonen Jump and Marvel's partnership. Starting on Dec. 10, Shonen Jump will publish a serialized storyline called Deadpool: Samurai.

Sanshirou Kasama and Hikaru Uesugi, who worked on the original one-shot that inspired Deadpool: Samurai, will write and illustrate the manga respectively. The announcement came during Tokyo Comic-Con, as Kasama and Uesugi discussed Deadpool: Samurai with Marvel Editor-In-Chief, C.B. Cebulski, as confirmed by Marvel.

Marvel's Japanese Twitter account posted an image from Uesugi promoting Deadpool: Samurai. The image features the Merc With A Mouth holding an issue of Shonen Jump, with his eyes crinkling into a smile. Another shared image features Deadpool sitting back in a limo, playing a Nintendo 3DS, surrounded by a mass of weapons.

Shonen Jump's parent company Shueisha and Marvel entered into a partnership in 2019, creating the Marvel × Shōnen Jump+ Super Collaboration anthology. It featured seven one-shots by a variety of manga artists, including Toyotaka Haneda creating an Ant-Man story and Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi writing a story with Spider-Man and Iron Man. The original Deadpool: Samurai one-shot featured the Merc with a Mouth using a time machine to travel back to feudal Japan, where he participated in a samurai battle.

Deadpool: Samurai will begin its serialization through the Shonen Jump+ app on Dec. 10.
