First published in February 1991, The New Mutants #98 by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld featured the debut of Deadpool as a mercenary hired to take down group leader Cable. Developing an irreverent wit and knack for breaking the fourth wall, the character quickly became a fan-favorite and has appeared across forms of X-Men-related media and starred in his own eponymous video game and 2016 hit film. He has been portrayed in all his feature film appearances by Ryan Reynolds since 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Heritage Auctions, who are handling the sale of the original Liefeld art from The New Mutants #98, is the largest collectibles auctioneer in the world.

Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 features Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, Julian Dennison as Russell, and Jack Kesy as Black Tom Cassidy. The film hits theaters on May 18.
