Deadpool's latest contract has him hunting octopus.
Marvel has unveiled its solicitations for Dec. 2022, including details regarding Deadpool #2 by writer Alyssa Wong and artist Martín Cóccolo. The second issue in Wade Wilson's new ongoing series has the Merc with a Mouth going after one of Spider-Man's greatest enemies, Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus. Based on the issue's synopsis, Wade is given less than 24 hours to kill the criminal mastermind, being that it is the only way to join "the most elite assassin alliance in the world."

The elite group Wade hopes to join is called the Atelier. Wong and Cóccolo's new series will begin in Nov. 2022, though it will not be only assassins and Doc Ock that Deadpool is up against. The series' debut issue will also see Wade kidnapped while something "is growing inside him," which could be the very thing "hanging out of Wade's chest" by Deadpool #2.
Will Deadpool's BFF Spider-Man Help With Doc Ock?
Being that Doc Ock will be Wade's target, whether Spider-Man -- regarded by Deadpool as one of his best friends -- will make an appearance remains to be seen. Peter Parker saved Doc Ock and the Sinister Six in The Amazing Spider-Man #6 (Legacy #900), but he has been on the outs with his friends and family since an act that hasn't been revealed to readers as of writing. The list of people upset with Peter includes Mary Jane Watson, Aunt May Parker, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, but whether it extends to Deadpool is unknown.
Spider-Man and Venom Are About to Fight Evil Clones
Of course, Peter will have his hands full while Deadpool's ongoing series is just starting. Debuting in December as well is Marvel's Dark Web event, which will impact Spider-Man, the X-Men, Ms. Marvel and Venom. Teased in Free Comic Book Day 2022: Spider-Man/Venom #1, the event sees Peter Parker clone Ben Reilly (now the villain called "Chasm") team up with Madelyne Pryor aka the Goblin Queen to cause havoc for Spider-Man and his allies. Preludes for Dark Web are set to take place within both The Amazing Spider-Man and Venom.
Deadpool #2 is written by Wong with interior and main cover art by Cóccolo. Variant covers for the issue are contributed to by Peach Momoko and Cully Hamner. The issue is set to go on sale Dec. 14 from Marvel Comics.
