When fans think of the various heroes in the Marvel Universe, they typically think of the "super" variety. For example, there is no shortage of characters with a marvelous set of powers like super strength, flight, energy blasts or invulnerability. Lower on the ability totem pole -- but still popular in their own right -- are your street-level heroes, vigilantes and hand-to-hand combatants.

The Merc With a Mouth known as Deadpool definitely falls in the mega-popular category. After winning fans over in the comics as a part of the X-Men franchise, Wade Wilson hit the big time with Ryan Reynolds' portrayal of the character on the big screen in X-Men Origins: WolverineDeadpool and Deadpool 2. Now, on the other hand, someone a good segment of the general population may not be familiar with is the monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone.

Created by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning and Michael Lopez, Elsa first appeared in 2001's Bloodstone #1. She is the daughter of Marvel's original monster hunter, Ulysses Bloodstone. Taking on the family business brought Elsa into the greater Marvel U, where she most famously starred in Warren Ellis and Stuart Immonen's Nextwave.

Elsa has a co-starring role in Marvel's most recent volume of Deadpool, which positions him as the new King of the Monsters after slaying their former leader. Of course, this puts Deadpool in the crosshairs of Elsa Bloodstone and Kraven the Hunter. While the former is partly on Deadpool's side, the latter has traveled to Monster Island (aka Staten Island) to slay some monsters. Right when it looks like Kraven is about to assassinate Deadpool, Elsa steps in to do the honor herself, shooting Deadpool in the head with a rifle. And in a surprising development, the shot made Deadpool disappear.

A preview of Deadpool #3 shows the fallout from this unique attack. Members of Deadpool's monster society immediately begin to prepare a counter-attack against Elsa, but she remains incredibly calm the entire time. Her reasoning is she didn't kill Deadpool, but instead saved his life. This is when Deadpool mysteriously reappears covered in black goo.

Elsa reveals she is trying out some new tech called teleporting bullets. She goes on to say that she infused the bullets with the blood of a bonebeast monster that has teleporting powers. Thus, we now have teleporting bullets. To quote Elsa, "Pretty **** cool, right?"

Deadpool may not be pleased, but at least he is still alive. Unfortunately, Kraven is still on the loose and needs to be taken out. If Elsa is creative enough to create teleporting bullets, it makes us wonder what else she has in her monster-hunting arsenal.
