If anything could possibly go wrong for Deadpool, it goes horribly wrong. If he could get on the bad side of one of the most fearsome creatures of the night, he gets on it's worst side. If every other hero and villain that has absolutely nothing to do with his mission could get involved, they do and decide to bring friends. That's right, life is never dull for The Merc With a Mouth as he finds himself caught up in a monstrous predicament that actually ends on a happy note for him! That never happens! And especially when vampires, werewolves, skeletons, and Hydra are all involved!

In Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet by Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, Irene Y. Lee, and Reilly Brown Deadpool falls directly into a mission that would make mortal men quiver with fear: bring Count Dracula's bride to him from across the world. Luckily for Deadpool, he isn't like most mortal men. He's not even mortal, which helps him out quite a bit with his new job as things go sideways almost immediately.

Finding Dracula's bride was the easy part; convincing her to join him was pretty easy, too; fending off vampire assassins was kinda tough, but Deadpool came out on top; no, it was shaking Blade, the day walking vampire killer himself, off his back that was pretty hard. It didn't help that Shiklah, Dracula's bride-to-be, had the terrifying ability to turn into a vicious monster with immense power. Things just got harder when Deadpool and Shiklah became abducted by Hydra. And then by A.I.M. at the same time while still being captured by Hydra.

After they escaped the clutches of two evil organizations, everything seemed to be going pretty swimmingly for Deadpool. He was still standing. Shiklah was unharmed, herself. But it was right about here that they were attacked by ghosts in the Parisian catacombs (Shiklah picked the worst place for a date), and even worse still, Deadpool realized he was actually getting the hots for Shiklah. On one hand this wasn't too bad because she liked him back; on the other hand, this was really bad because she was supposed to be Dracula's bride.

Getting back to NYC Deadpool and Shiklah were attacked by a hit squad compiled by Dracula that consisted of the Werewolf by Night, The Living Mummy, Frankenstein, and a Brood assassin. To counter this aggressive and lethal Halloween team Deadpool calls in some help of his own: Red Hulk, Elektra, Ghost Rider, and The Punisher. Because why WOULDN'T they all show up to a massive monster brawl in Midtown? Oh, and Ben Franklin's ghost shows up, too, and he fires electricity at the hordes of undead.

Chaos ensues when Shiklah confronts Dracula on her own. After a fierce battle, Shiklah is turned to stone when Dracula directs Medusa's gaze onto her just before Deadpool appears in an attempt to save her. His battle against Dracula is hard and is nearly defeated himself. The problem for Dracula, though, is that he had never fought anyone quite like Deadpool. After ramming his severed hand into Dracula's heart, Deadpool rushes to Medusa and requests her help in both restoring Shiklah and defeating the remaining monsters.

The best part of this wild and wacky adventure? Deadpool and Shiklah develop real feelings of affection for one another. Deadpool's life isn't exactly welcoming to meaningful relationships and Shiklah is a succubus that transforms into a giant demon. Both felt as if they'd never find true love and instead found each other. It isn't often that such a madcap mission ends well, but this was the rare case where everyone (except Dracula) went home with a smile. Deadpool and Shiklah make a great couple and it's cool to know that two very unlikely people found love in very unlikely circumstances.
