The future of the Deadpool movies remains a question mark as Disney and Marvel Studios figure out how to integrate the FOX X-Men properties into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Ryan Reynolds' Merc With a Mouth made a surprise, dubiously canonical MCU debut with a reaction video to the trailer for Free Guy.

It's a funny and inspired piece of marketing, and one of its running gags involves Deadpool complaining that he doesn't have his own Disney+ show. As the world waits for a proper Deadpool 3, this reaction video might actually be an ideal test model for an easy-to-make Deadpool show: a Disney+ or Hulu equivalent of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Deadpool reacting to trailers is a gimmick that can only really work once before it becomes obnoxious, but Deadpool reacting to full movies has serious comedic potential. Warner Bros. has already done something similar with Teen Titans GO! See Space Jam, and there are plenty of material in the Disney and Fox libraries that's worth a good riffing.

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool

There are a lot of bad, disappointing or just downright odd movies Disney owns the rights to. To take an example of a movie already made fun of in the Free Guy video, not a lot of people are gonna be regularly putting on Thor: The Dark World for a rewatch unless they're doing a full Thor series or MCU marathon. However, a good chunk of those people who didn't like Thor: The Dark World may rewatch it if it came with a funny Deadpool commentary track. This could be said for a lot of the live-action remakes and forgotten '70s ephemera on the Disney side of things, or Dragonball: Evolution and From Justin to Kelly on the FOX side of things.

Depending on what direction Disney feels like going in with the character, this proposed Deadpool MST3K series could either be a TV-14 series on Disney+ (with curse words censored similar to the Free Guy reaction video) or a TV-MA show for Hulu. Either way, this would be both an easy way to keep Reynolds' Deadpool prominent in the pop culture conversation and a smart way to allow Disney to make fun of itself. If even a Free Guy advertisement video featured a comment as cutting as the "Fox fire sale" one, there is lots of potential for a Deadpool MST3K to deliver some sharp satire on Disney while simultaneously showing that the company can have a sense of humor about itself.

Like Korg in the Free Guy video, different characters from the MCU could show up to accompany Deadpool in these riffs. She-Hulk's similarly fourth-wall-breaking nature could make her a good fit, and maybe this could even be an unconventional way to introduce new characters like Squirrel Girl. Get some great writers on board, maybe even those who've worked on the actual Mystery Science Theater 3000, and this could be the perfect way to match Deadpool's sense of humor with his new owners at Disney.
