Fans worried that Deadpool 3 might sanitize the frequently raunchy Merc with a Mouth now that he's owned by Disney can rest easy. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of the upcoming Marvel sequel, have confirmed that Deadpool 3 will have the same tone as the previous two films in the franchise.

"Deadpool is gonna be Deadpool," said Wernick when asked by Den of Geek if the writers were told by Disney to make the Marvel character more family-friendly. "Don’t worry about that, added Reese. "[Disney has] been very supportive with regard to that. Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, 'Maybe not that joke.' But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing, because obviously we were doing it separate from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve had their own even greater success. So hopefully it’ll be a marriage made in heaven. But we’ve definitely got their support, and that’s a great thing to feel."

Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool in the upcoming threequel. The actor originally debuted as the character in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine before leading 2016's Deadpool and the 2018 sequel Deadpool 2. A spinoff of Fox's main X-Men series, both Deadpool films were massive critical and commercial successes. A third solo film originally entered development in November 2016. Following the acquisition of 20th Century Fox, Disney confirmed in December 2017 that Deadpool 3 would be developed by Marvel Studios and take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reese and Wernick, who also wrote both Deadpool films, are keen on exploring Deadpool's new life in the MCU. "It's an absolute thrill to have the band back together, to have a new backdrop in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that kind of thing," Reese said. When asked if they planned on skewering the MCU in Deadpool 3, both Reese and Wernick replied, "Oh yeah!"

In addition to Reynolds, Leslie Uggams' foul-mouthed Blind Al is the only other character from the previous Deadpool films slated to return for the third film. Zazie Beetz and Morena Baccarin, who played Domino and Vanessa, respectively, in the franchise, have previously stated that they are unsure if they are in Deadpool 3.

Deadpool 3 does not have a release date at this time.
