No Improv for the Merc with a Mouth

Principal photography on Deadpool 3 began on May 22, 2023, in London under the working title "Tidal Wave." Shawn Levy is directing the Marvel feature from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Ryan Reynolds and Levy. The Marvel Studios threequel is not expected to be impacted by the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike beyond Reynolds being prevented from improvising on set due to being listed as a co-writer on Deadpool 3. Unlike the first two Deadpool films, which featured a lot of improvisation between Reynolds and his co-stars, the actor will have to say exactly what is written on the page.

The X-Men original trilogy is currently streaming on Disney+. Deadpool 3 is scheduled to open in theaters on Nov. 8, 2024.
