An update on Deadpool 3 could be on the way, as star Ryan Reynolds recently promised fans more news on the upcoming threequel will be shared soon.

Though Reynolds remained tight-lipped about the film's progress when asked about potentially collaborating with director Shawn Levy on it, the actor assured fans plenty of new, detailed information on Deadpool 3 is coming. "We pretty much talk about everything," Reynolds said of Levy during an interview with Collider, "but I'll say this about [Deadpool 3] is I'll have a batch of updates on that sooner rather than later, I hope. So I'll be able to get into stuff about Deadpool a little bit more clearly and definitively down the road."

While denying Deadpool's rumored appearance in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessReynolds touched on the progress of Deadpool 3, saying, "It's coming along." Reynolds has been similarly vague in past updates regarding the threequel, with the actor saying of the film's status late last year, "Plugging away. I can't really comment right now. Hopefully soon, though."

Marvel Studios President/Marvel CCO Kevin Feige has also vouched on behalf of Deadpool 3's progress. Feige confirmed last summer that the film not only has a spot on the Marvel Cinematic Universe release slate but also that Reynolds was actively involved in its production. "The script is in the works," he said, "and [Reynolds] is working very hard on it with our writers as we speak."

As for when that script will be brought to life, Reynolds said there was a strong chance the film could begin shooting sometime this year. "The percentage chance? I don’t know. I couldn’t assign a percentage to that," the actor said when asked about the odds of Deadpool 3 entering production in 2022. "I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe? We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape. What the hell month is it? August? Oh, next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%."

Reynolds' titular mutant mercenary is currently the only character confirmed for Deadpool 3, yet actor Zazie Beetz has expressed interest in reprising her role as X-Force member Dominio from Deadpool 2. "I would love to revisit Domino," Beetz said. "I would love to do a Deadpool 3, 4, 5, 7, 19. I've also wanted to be like, 'Maybe I could just do my own origin story...' I love her and so I would be more than happy to revisit her on camera. And I think I will. If Disney doesn't make it happen, I'll make it happen."

Deadpool 3 lacks a director and an official release date as of this writing, though writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin have been confirmed to be penning the screenplay.
