Just a day after production resumed on Deadpool 2 in the wake of the tragic incident that took place during the filming of the Deadpool sequel, Domino actress Zazie Beetz took to Instagram to share her thoughts and offer condolences to the family of Joy SJ Harris, the stunt person who died on set.
Harris, the first African-American female professional road racer, was standing in for Beetz’s mutant hero during a motorcycle stunt. The stuntwoman, who had reportedly had not yet been given a fitted helmet to wear under her wig, lost control of her motorcycle along West Waterfront Road.
The accident is currently being investigated by the Vancouver Police Department and WorkSafeBC. The team behind Deadpool 2 temporarily paused production to mourn Harris’ untimely passing.
Directed by David Leitch (John Wick), Deadpool 2 sees the return of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, Julian Dennison in an unknown role, and Jack Kesy as a villain widely thought to be Black Tom Cassidy. The film opens June 1, 2018.
