A new promo for director David Leitch's Deadpool 2 sees Wade Wilson finally join the X-Men ... as a trainee.
Although Deadpoolhas a long and complicated relationship with Charles Xavier and his gifted youngsters in the comics, 2016's Deadpool shied away from classic characters like Scott Summers and Jean Grey. But with Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead returning for the sequel, the worlds of X-Force and X-Men are about to get a little closer.
The latest promo gives a closer look at the Merc With a Mouth and hie allies. Alongside references to Negasonic Teenage Warhead as a Justin Bieber lookalike and a cameo by Xavier's wheelchair, the TV spot also teases more of the Cable-Deadpool relationship and even sneaked in a pop at the DC Extended Universe.
As Stefan Kapicic's Colossus muses that Deadpool could join the X-Men with the right training, Wilson once again tries to shun the famous team of mutants. There is also the return of Deadpool's yellow crop top, and a quip about all the X-Men being virgins.
Most of the marketing for the Deadpool sequel has focused on either Josh Brolin's Cable or the formation of the X-Force. However, it looks like the X-Men will at least play some part in Leitch's sequel. Could this lead to Deadpool 2's super-secret cameo?
Debuting May 18, director David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Julian Dennison as Russell and Josh Brolin as Cable.
