Deadpool 2: Wade Wilson Joins the X-Men in New Sequel Photo

As fans patiently await the arrival of David Leitch's Deadpool 2, a new image finally sees Wade Wilson join the X-Men.

Deadpool 2 is known for its tongue-in-cheek marketing, and from the Bob Ross-inspired teaser to Deadpool playing with dolls in the trailer, there has been plenty to talk about. As well as returning favorites Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, the promos have teased even more X-Men connections and the emergence of X-Force.

Now, Empire has an exclusive look at what would happen if Deadpool joined Charles Xavier's team gifted youngsters. As well as featuring the titular hero, the image focuses the action on Julian Dennison's mysterious new character.

The photo shows the DMC trying to take down Dennison while the Merc With a Mouth calms the situation. His yellow "X" T-shirt has been previously seen in the trailers, with Leitch clearly poking fun at the character's convoluted history alongside the legendary team of mutants.

Expanding the roster of mutants from Tim Miller's 2016 movie, Deadpool 2 is fulfilling its promise to go bigger than the first movie. However, as this image shows, the trio of Deadpool, Colossus and Warhead will still be a big focus of the sequel.

With hopes that Deadpool 2 can set the scene for Drew Goddard's X-Force spinoff, fans shouldn't expect Deadpool or any of his new companions to suit up with the likes of Jean Grey and Cyclops. For now, it looks like the more adult Fox titles are keeping themselves separate from the "classic" line of mutant movies.

Debuting May 18, director David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Zazie Beetz as Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable.
