Wade Wilson is forming his own super duper team in Deadpool 2, as X-Force makes its official debut in the new trailer for the Fox sequel. Fans had speculated about who this team could possibly be, and which established Marvel Comics characters would make up its ranks, but now we have a better idea of what to expect when Deadpool and Cable return in an X-Force spinoff.

So who are these mystery mutants? While some of the characters come directly from the pages of various X-Force comics, others are taken from the sprawling X-Men family of titles. We should also note that just because a hero is depicted in the trailer's "getting-the-team-together" montage doesn't necessarily mean he or she makes the final cut (or even survives to see another film).

Domino

Deadpool 2 X-Force

Zazie Beetz stars as X-Force's luck-manipulating, mercenary mutant Domino in Deadpool 2. Neena Thurman has long been an ally of Cable, accompanying him from their Six Pack days to the X-Men's black ops team.

Domino has recently made a name for herself in Marvel comics separate from Cable in the Marvel Universe as leader of Deadpool's Mercs for Money team and as a member of Weapon X. Domino will debut next month her first solo comics series, by writer Gail Simone and artist David Baldeo.

Bedlam

Deadpool 2 X-Force

An unexpected surprise in Deadpool 2's first trailer was the appearance of Terry Crews, who, as part of the Expendables franchise, is no stranger to action movies. In a blink-or-you-miss-it moment, Crews can be seen standing beside Deadpool and Domino during the trailer's initial X-Force tease.

While first signs pointed to Crews portraying Six Pack member and Cable's close friend G.W. Bridge, the actor confirmed on Twitter that he's actually Bedlam, who can control electromagnetic field, while also increasing or decreasing a person's receptors.

Surge

Deadpool 2 X-Force

The person most likely to raise eyebrows is Deadpool's chain-waving, purple-haired mystery woman, played by Shioli Kutsuna. The X symbol on her sleeve clearly places her as either a member of the X-Men, or a student at the Xavier Institute. Because no one in X-Force's history matches her description, that leads us to consider former New Mutants, with Surge being our top suspect.

Surge is a Japanese mutant named Noriko Ashida, who manifested electricity-based powers. The trailer's footage shows Kutsuna electrifying her metal chain, providing further evidence for Surge's big screen debut. Also, Deadpool has a history of plucking obscure X-Men for his films, witnessed by Negasonic Teenage Warhead quickly becoming a fan-favorite character. (It's worth noting that one outlet contends she's named Yoiki, which doesn't correspond with any known Marvel mutants.)

Zeitgeist

Deadpool 2 X-Force

Another hotly rumored character is the soldier, played by Bill Skarsgard, who sits next to Domino on the airplane where Deadpool names his new team. We're going to stick to the theory from the film's last trailer and peg him as the leader of Peter Milligan and Mike Allred’s X-Force, Zeitgeist.

Axel Cluney's mutant power was to puke up a substance that could eat through nearly anything, which would totally match the insane action and comedy we're bound to see in Deadpool 2.

Debuting May 18, director David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Zazie Beetz as Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable.
