Rumors that a villain has been cut from Deadpool 2 are untrue, at least according to the film's co-writer Rhett Reese.Reese tweeted out a link to an article detailing the rumor, which claimed that Jack Kesy -- who many speculate to be playing Black Tom Cassidy -- was cut from the film, potentially to make room for more Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). "Untrue," Reese wrote in his tweet.RELATED: Did Deadpool 2 End Up Cutting One of Its Villains

As Kesy is not yet confirmed to be playing Black Tom Cassidy, there's a chance that he was never slated to play that particular villain in the first place. The initial casting announcement did specify that Kesy would be playing a villain, just not which one.

Introduced in 1976 in Marvel Comics’ X-Men #99, Black Tom is the cousin of the X-Man Banshee and a frequent criminal partner of Juggernaut. The Irish mutant is capable of utilizing wood to generate thermokinetic blasts, but a secondary mutation gave him several more abilities related to plants, including telekinesis and growth abilities.

Black Tom Cassidy has not appeared in trailers so far, and it seems like Leitch is focusing on pitting Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool against Cable, who is hunting down the mystery mutant that Julian Dennison is playing.

Debuting May 18, director David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Zazie Beetz as Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable.
