According to star Ryan Reynolds, 2018's Deadpool 2 almost featured a new version of the hero's iconic red-and-black costume.

On Instagram, Reynolds shared an image of the new costume that was almost used, which featured more paneling in several places. As for the reason why the new suit wasn't used, Reynolds claimed he "got cold feet and went back to the original."

Deadpool 2 featured the Merc With a Mouth on a mission to save the life of a young mutant following the death of his girlfriend Vanessa. The film was Reynolds' third outing as Wade Wilson following his appearance as the character in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine and his debut as the modern incarnation in 2016. In December, Reynolds also confirmed Deadpool 3 was in development, this time under Marvel Studios.

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
