Most superhero movie sequels make updates to the hero's costume, but not Deadpool 2.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ryan Reynolds discussed Deadpool's costume and revealed that it would pretty much be the same thing he wore for the first film. “It was like a soft system update,” he admitted. “You know, when it’s like your phone gives you an update, but it’s only like [the] font or something. It’s not going to give you some awesome thing. It was kind of that."
What will be different about it? "My shin guards are shinier. I mean f—, who cares," Reynolds joked. And then he got super serious, stating that it was "Nothing that allowed me to find my penis within 20 minutes when I had to pee. No, nothing like that. God forbid we should just put a normal f—ing zipper in it.”
Superhero movie costumes are notorious for preventing actors from doing simple things like use the bathroom without assistance. Ben Affleck was famously warned by Christian Bale to make sure he can pee in the suit without assistance when he signed up to be Batman. Clearly Deadpool 2 wasn't looking to make it easy for Reynolds.
Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 features Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable and Julian Dennison as Russell. The film opens May 18.
