Marvel Studios reflected on the 10 years of films it produced to form the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the weeks leading up to Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel's "ugly redheaded stepchild," Deadpool 2, has capitalized on making fun of the studio in every way possible, especially as it faces off against box office behemoth Infinity War. In a new featurette of his own, Deadpool looks back at 10 years and a grand total of two movies that make up this one-phase franchise.

Deadpool stretches the truth a bit to fit the 10-year timeline, claiming the idea was born in 2008 and that Wade Wilson's intro in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine counts but "wasn't what we had in mind." Then a few years of Fox just saying no to the project, with Ryan Reynold's turn in Green Lantern not helping things. The real springboard into action was the leak of pictures of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in 2015 ahead of the first film's release.

"If you told me back then that one movie would spawn an expansive two-movie universe, I'd have said that you were crazy," Reynolds says in the video. So what can we expect from Deadpool Phase 2? Higher level X-Men characters, of course, and maybe slightly more than a "moderate visual effects budget."

You don't need to be able to read the parody featurette's Portuguese title cards to know Deadpool is laying in heavily to Infinity War's nostalgia-fueled marketing campaign. We'll find out this weekend if it can lay into Infinity War's hugely impressive earnings, as well.
