Deadpool 2's marketing certainly has a theme, as the anticipated sequel's newest teaser is the second to parody a classic piece of art.

The poster, released via star Ryan Reynolds' social media accounts, is a parody of Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. "Some might call this creation a masterpiece," the star tweeted, "but to me it’s just well hung art to be shared with the world."

Here, Deadpool stands in for Adam, with Cable representing God. Rather than touching fingers, however, the Merc with a Mouth is sticking his finger in the barrel of Cable's pistol. A slightly less inspiring message, perhaps, but one in keeping with the character's personality.

The first poster for Fox's R-rated sequel lampooned another piece of classic artwork: Norman Rockwell's Freedom From Want. While that one was holiday-themed, and included Deadpool 2's entire known cast, this image focuses squarely on Wade and Cable. The latter, played by Josh Brolin, is expected to be a major part of the film's storyline. In addition to continuing Deadpool's story, the movie sets up at least two, possibly three more films featuring Cable, including the long-anticipated X-Force team film.

Deadpool 2 arrives in theaters on June 1, 2018. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Josh Brolin, Zazie Beets, TJ Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic, Leslie Uggams, Jack Kesy, Karan Soni, and Eddie Marsan.
