Deadpool 2 co-star Morena Baccarin said she felt "very involved" in the 2018 sequel despite her limited screen time.

Baccarin spoke to ComicBook.com about working on the films, saying her character Vanessa's relationship with Deadpool was important, and she understands fan disappointment about Vanessa meeting her demise early in the second film. She stated, "I certainly was disappointed that I didn't have more to do, because I just loved the part so much." However, she added, "But in watching the film and reading the script, it felt like such an emotionally pivotal role in the film and the entire arc of his character in the film is set into motion because of what happens to my character, that it felt that I was very involved in the movie even though I didn't have a lot of scenes."

Deadpool 2 follows the Merc with the Mouth as he attempts adjust to life after losing Vanessa. He encounters a young mutant named Firefist and, despite his initial reluctance to do so, Wade ultimately ends up saving him from a future as a supervillain and from the crosshairs of the time-traveling mutant, Cable.

It is currently uncertain if the successful franchise will see a third instalment, following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds said in December 2019 that a third film is in development, but Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, suggested in May that the project is not on Marvel Studios' five-year plan.
