Fox's Deadpool was an unexpected, yet undeniable, hit, earning $783 million worldwide, critical acclaim and lots of laughter. Its 2018 sequel promises to be even bigger, with an increased budget, a larger cast and, co-star Josh Brolin promises, even more humor.

"There's a lot of stuff going on in Deadpool that's very surprising, and that will be very satisfying when you see it," the Cable actor told Good Morning America during the D23 Expo. "To me it's even funnier than the first one. That's to me."

"When they asked me to do it, I was like, 'Ah, I do Deadpool and I'm doing the Thanos thing right now, and should I do it?'" he continued. "And my wife just said, 'Read it. Why are you even thinking? Just read it.' And I read it, and I laughed harder than I've laughed in a very long time. So, it's funny. ... Cable can be very funny. He can be a lot of different things, but he also can be very funny."

In Marvel's Cable and Deadpool comic, the two mercenaries are stuck in a partnership that emphasizes how different they are from each other. Deadpool is a motor-mouthed funny man, while Cable has zero sense of humor. Still, an overly serious character can be just as funny as one unleashing jokes, and it seems Brolin is comfortable in his role.

He's got the look, and now he's got the attitude. Brolin is ready to play Cable.

Arriving in theaters June 1, 2018, Deadpool 2 will see the return of Ryan Reynolds, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand and Karan Soni, accompanied by franchise newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable.
