Deadpool 2 Director to Helm Undying Love Graphic Novel Adaptation

While the status of Deadpool 3 may be up in the air pending the acquisition of Fox studios by Disney, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch is already lining up his next project.

Deadline reports that Leitch is attached to helm the upcoming adaptation of Undying Love. Based on the Image Comics limited series of the same name by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman, Undying Love tells the story of a veteran named John Sargent who falls in love with a Chinese vampire named Mei. Sargent decides to free her from a life of servitude to the criminal underworld of Hong Kong and goes head to head with the powerful vampire who created her.

The film has been in development for years after it was acquired by Warner Bros. following an intense bidding war. The film has gone through a number of other directors, including Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3-D) and Joe Carnahan (The Grey) before Leitch landed the film. Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) will write the script for the film, which does not currently have a release date.

The next film by David Leitch is the Fast Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw starring Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, Eiza Gonzalez and Roman Reigns. It is scheduled to be released Aug. 2.
