"Deadpool 2" is officially a go at Fox, and the post-credits scene from the first "Deadpool" has already revealed one character fans will definitely get to see in the sequel: Cable. The gun-toting, cyborg mutant messiah from an apocalyptic future will indeed be a part of "Deadpool 2," and now director Tim Miller and screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have started figuring out how to bring the hero to life.

"There's a lot about Cable's history that I like because he's so intertwined with the world of the X-Men" returning director Tim Miller told IGN. "Why he was put together with Deadpool -- other than that he was in a comic that wasn't selling well and Deadpool was in a comic that wasn't selling well so they put them together -- it's the same reason we had Colossus; he's a straight man. And I think Deadpool needs a straight man. Cable is the ultimate, archetypal, silent, strong and cynical warrior, which Deadpool is not."

Screenwriter Rhett Reese said they are looking for an actor to play Cable that has "strength, gravitas, a purposefulness that Deadpool doesn't have. Deadpool's kind of got ADD, and we think of Cable as someone who locks onto something and is going to get that thing solved no matter what." Co-writer Paul Wernick added that the actor should also be "physically imposing."

Ryan Reynolds will return for the sequel, as will "Deadpool" director Tim Miller and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. "Deadpool 2" does not yet have a release date.
