Although it didn't play a central role in the story, fans got a glimpse at the effects of the techno-organic virus on Cable's body, particularly his arm, in Deadpool 2. A new piece of concept art now gives fans a look at one of the potential designs for the mutant's arm.

The image, which concept artist Jerad S. Marantz shared on his Instagram, shows an alternate version of Cable's arm, which differs quite a bit from the final version appearing in the film. Marantz explained the arm's use, writing, "In order to control the [techno-organic virus] Cable embeds this prosthetic under the virus tech in order to still use it as a functioning arm."

Actor Josh Brolin is slated to play Cable in four movies, though Disney's current bid to buy assets from 21st Century Fox could alter those plans. Until then, he is expected to next appear in Fox’s upcoming X-Force film. Writer Rhett Reese has expressed a desire to explore the techno-organic virus more in future films.
